Healthier Tomorrow
Compassionate, expert care is just a click away.
There is no single treatment program that is appropriate for every patient. At Addiction Psychiatry, treatment begins with a comprehensive evaluation designed to understand your substance use, medical history, psychiatric history, current medications, previous treatment experiences, and recovery goals.
Depending on your individual circumstances, treatment may include medication management, psychiatric treatment, recovery support, education, behavioral strategies, and coordination with additional services when needed.
Treatment for opioid use disorder may include FDA-approved medications such as buprenorphine or naltrexone when medically appropriate. Medication treatment can help reduce cravings and opioid use and support recovery. Your provider will determine whether medication is appropriate based on your medical history and individual circumstances.
Treatment may also incorporate psychiatric care, relapse-prevention planning, behavioral support, and regular follow-up appointments.
Treatment for alcohol use disorder may include medications that can help reduce alcohol cravings or support abstinence when clinically appropriate. Treatment may also address anxiety, depression, sleep disturbances, and other psychiatric concerns that can accompany problematic alcohol use.
Because abrupt alcohol withdrawal can be dangerous for some people, our first priority is determining the appropriate and safe level of care. Patients requiring medically supervised withdrawal or inpatient treatment may need services beyond an outpatient telemedicine setting.
There are FDA-approved medicines to treat alcohol (Antabuse, naltrexone, Vivitrol, Campral) and off-label drugs (i.e. Topamax).
Treatment for cocaine, methamphetamine, and other stimulant use disorders typically combines behavioral and recovery-support strategies with psychiatric care. Treatment can also address conditions that may contribute to stimulant use, including depression, anxiety, ADHD, sleep disorders, and other psychiatric concerns.
Our providers develop individualized plans focused on reducing substance use, managing psychiatric symptoms, identifying triggers, improving daily functioning, and supporting long-term recovery.
Kratom dependence can be difficult to manage without professional assistance, particularly for individuals experiencing withdrawal symptoms or using kratom to manage previous opioid dependence.
Treatment begins by evaluating the amount and frequency of kratom use, other substances or medications being used, previous opioid use, psychiatric history, and withdrawal symptoms. An individualized plan can then be developed that may include medication when appropriate, psychiatric treatment, symptom management, and ongoing recovery support.
Successful addiction treatment often requires treating more than substance use alone. Depression, anxiety, ADHD, trauma-related symptoms, bipolar disorder, and other psychiatric conditions can contribute to substance use and make recovery more difficult.
Our dual-diagnosis approach considers both addiction and mental health. When appropriate, patients can receive psychiatric medication management and addiction treatment as part of a coordinated treatment plan, along with recommendations for additional behavioral and support services.
